Hello and welcome to Zoe Makes Cakes, presenting irresistible confections from my kitchen to yours…

This little blog is my way of documenting my culinary creations (the good, the bad and the ugly) as I trawl through recipe clippings, blogs, cookery programmes and my ever-increasing pile of cook books in search of the perfect baked goods!

By day I am Product Design graduate who is actively seeking a job in the media. However one day far into the future I hope to start my own cafe/cake shop. I have started recording everything I make right here. I am trying to find out what works and what doesn’t. What people love, like or hate and start piecing together a selection of recipes that I will one day use to sell in my shop. I have a long way to go and a lot to learn before I feel comfortable with selling people my goods, but, whilst on my way I want to share my cake related experiences with you. Whether you want to try out some recipes for yourself or just stare and slaver I hope you enjoy the site.

If you have any requests (and don’t mind them being blogged about) I will happily bake for you.¬†Whether you have an event planned, a birthday perhaps? or simply just fancy spoiling yourself don’t hesitate to email me at zjmilne@gmail.com. You can also follow me on twitter by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page.

    Hi Zoe,

Just want to say how much I’m enjoying your blog and look forward to what you make next!

I also love to cook/bake and I document my creations in a facebook photo album. I dream of doing it full time for my own business (currently a usability analyst). In addition to cooking I’ve decided to start growing my own vegetables and plan to blog about it to. Thanks for the inspiration! :)

      Hello Lorraine,
Thank you so much for your lovely comments! It was so nice of you to say so! The blog being so little I have only ever had three comments and I treasure every one. It is so lovely to know that other people are browsing zoemakescakes and that it is not an audience of friends and family (hi mum!).
You must let me know when you start your own blog so I can follow your vegetable growing/cooking adventures- It sounds fabulous!

    Hi there Zoe,

The site looks great and all of your creations look so yummy! Are you still doing your stall at the Barras? I’m going to be heading down there in the next couple of weeks and I was hoping i’d see you there.
    Hope you’re doing well

Hey Nat. How are you? Thank you for your kind words about the blog! I no longer have a stall at the Barras as they closed down so I wasn’t there at the weekend. x

  5. Hi Zoe,
Amanda from SIE/IRONBBRATZ here, we’re going to be holding a stall at Vault Art Glasgow this coming weekend (Sept 8-11), and I was wondering if you might be available for a wee cake commission. My email address is ironbbratz@gmail.com.
    Hope you’re well,
    Amanda
